scars fade

it was more than a graze
a wound
some pain
some anguish
no permanent damage
the bandage removed
makes one wince
for only a nano

revealing
a healing

the music turned from gloomy gray
to something more suitable
to lighten the day
never occurred
not knowing the words
one can sing along anyway

out of tune
no one else in the room
so
sing louder

for that power
within is what
winners are made of

don’t question
the poet
prophet
songstress
or sir
their wisdom
comes from another land
they recognize
their role

it is not courage
that they display
just a fluttering of verbiage

reflection and understanding
is the correlation
one makes
to their own wounds

removing the tape slowly
only increases the pain
tear it off swiftly
for scars fade
