These pieces are a melding of Gwynneth’s photography and poetry. The photo draws one in and upon closer inspection the craftily placed haiku or word story is discovered. Her careful use of color and focus mimics imaginative prose as it guides viewers through the scene.
Writing has long been my primary passion. As a published poet I became involved in ekphrastic partnerships with visual artists and participated in a number of exhibitions in this capacity—a synergy between word and image that I found fascinating. In one exhibition my participation was both as a poet and as an artist. I have continued this creative union through my photography and my poetry and look forward to sharing this ongoing endeavor.
Each photo is reconstructed to create a captivating visual that allows expression of the underlying feeling of the photo, including the addition of text in the form of haikus, 6-word poems or short poetic flows. These words are subtly melded into the photo allowing the viewer a moment of discovery when the narrative reveals itself.
