many moons ago
every Tuesday

sheets & towels
dust & vac
clean out the frig
there’s always
something smelling horrid
forgotten in the back
like bad cheese
or old bologna
does anyone eat that anymore
she actually prefers
liverwurst
on rye
smear the mustard
topped with thinly sliced onion
for lunch on Wednesdays

take out the trash
call her sister Sue
that will take an hour or 2
if it isn’t raining
mow the lawn
pull some weeds
probably needs
to run to the bank
cash a check
get out the grocery list

unpack the bags
fold and stack them neatly away
meet the school bus
homework
piano & flute
football
baseball
soccer
tennis
and ballet

time
to prep for dinner
with a martini filled glass

all of that
when she was 31

now at 91
it’s a rocking chair of memories
