i fell asleep
in the middle of a day dream

i was hanging upside down
trying
to drown my sorrows
my legs wrapped tightly
around a limb

only to hear

crrrrack

damn
my back
might never be the same
and now a different sore
fills my brain

wanting to wake
but unable to
sleep became deeper
snoring an issue
not for me
but for those in my proximity

my dream ran
in another direction
fields of flowers
perfumed the air
fogging my head
slowing my speech
feet couldn’t walk
i sat and talked
with a most beautiful peacock
it’s fan of feathers jiggling
creating a hypnotic motion
fostering a suggestive state

a seed planted deep in the cranium
to blossom into a futuristic weed
that would succeed
transforming youths’ naivety
into productive humanity
