a poet's playground

i will protect you

i will protect you
my darling
my love

i will carry
all burdens
so that you have none

rest your head
when you are weary

for your first step
your first word

each a rock

of what lies ahead

daily toils
and struggles
to survive
attacks
from predators
jealous her stature
her view
from the sky

she
only wishes
to pass on
her awareness
