jewels of yesteryears
suddenly
we all woke
to the same day
the sun cast
realizations
that pettiness
& rivalries
were lost long ago
similarities
strengths & woes
tie us
a year here
a year there
is lost in time
our ages
the same
the original roots
our youth
are 1
in the same
years of claiming
differences
of growth & direction
have fused
now leading
all to reflection
me
to
you
those
to
we
pasts……..
interactions…….
a locker full
of worth
each & everyone
has the combination
for trust
is in the memories
each holds to heart
now holding each other
treasuring the jewels
of yesteryears
making room
for old friends & acquaintances
to renew
some other’s regrets
sanity should be questioned
on a daily basis
like falling out of bed
without slamming into the floor
finding a window open
and closing it
but always just always
a crack left
so the bad air has an escape
knowing late is better
than not at all
keeping secrets
till they no longer are
and when the 2nd
cup of java doesn’t work
a shot of vodka
might turn out worse
down the hatch
with no regrets
listening to ramblings
laughing inside
why……… oh why
be bothered
riled
or vexed
this isn’t you
me
some other’s regrets
valentine’s lament?
may
the spark
of desire
quell the fire
don’t fret or fray
valentine’s day
for
friends/lovers
undiscovered
find
their way
on
other days
in 1 day
it isn’t in today’s rhyme
it was yesterday’s reason
for being isn’t enough
in 1 day
the season changed
though everything
appears the same
an attitude adjustment
leaving cold
in the fireplace to warm
stripping a layer off
as the snow melts
from the lawn
a tiny burst of life
breaks through
and icicles hang no more
the warm
never left the core
merely waiting
for windows to open
smelling the salt
in the breeze
waiting
for another seasonal change
in 1 day
being is enough
if engaged
a ramble
i forgot to fill the tub
so the bath was rather dry
forgot to pour the coffee
so i couldn’t open my eyes
should have stayed in bed
but it doesn’t
turn off the day
the tea
in a cup
leaves stains
no leafs to be read
the future
not wished in the stars
stated in the cards
dreading daybreak
no solutions found in bed
world wakening
dust off the layer
rust will decay
the plan
of action
read the cereal box
for directions
they never steer you wrong
fortified or not
whole milk
cold
cold
cold
preferred
that taste never leaves the mind
inclined to believe
reactions better received
when bubbly is served 1st
not last
melting the ice
rather than breaking boundaries
suffices
a perfect exchange of views
are you lost too?
are you caught in the ramble
of words & rhymes
lost time
better spent……………where
the rainbow is outside
the light is within
take on the tasks
they will not last
longer than the day
for here
i lay
the solution……….in bed
your heart speaks
your heart speaks
who is listening
who hears
the thump the thump the thump
that speeds
when
the mind
is infatuated
totally out of rest
uncontrollably captivated
inarticulate at best
wishing
hoping
that
1 would guess
the goings on inside
wishing
hoping
that is reflected
in the eyes
someone listen
someone please
recognize
your heart speaks
breathing quells
your heart screams
to be held
to be loved
a day or 2
i am going to smile
at you today
even if you won’t
going to sing a song
out of tune
just to chase the blues
whatcha gonna do
fight with me
i’m going to make you laugh
though you may hurt
i’ll show you the sun
even if you don’t see
gonna make you feel
closer to me
you can
shout
kick
scream
& complain
i’m not gonna
let it rain
on you
i’m not gonna
let you pout
for more than
a day or 2
reoccurring dream
the calm
before the storm
the peace
before war
the quiet
before the fight
laughter
before tears
the positive
before negativity takes control
the closing in
not letting go
holding on to anger & rage
burning a hole in your gut
reacting with a kick
not a kiss at the end of the day
sleep…………
to the reoccurring dream
friends and enemies alike
stand together
for there are no lines
in the sand
our babies all cry the same
needing hugs each day
our children
tumble and fall
no different than another
call
to your neighbor
call
to a stranger
listen to the replies
for they call too
to understand
to sympathize
look into their eyes
for they look into yours
demand yourself
command
your path
rocks are mere pebbles
pebbles turn to sand
we stand
we fall
we lend a hand
in the storm
before the calm
the war
before peace
the fight
before quiet takes hold
the dried tears
that clear a path
letting go
letting go
letting go
